Leaving removes you from that channel's membership. You stop getting its notifications, and you need an invite to come back if the channel is private.
From the channel
- Open the channel.
- Open Apps and Agents (the ••• menu in the channel header, or the channel's Apps & agents screen).
- Switch to the Channel tab.
- Tap Leave channel, then confirm if asked.
On a public channel, the same Channel tab shows Join channel when you are only browsing.
From the Messages list
- Find the channel in Messages.
- Swipe it and tap Leave, or open the row's menu and choose Leave (the app may say Leave group).
- Confirm if a dialog appears.
What happens next
- You are no longer a member, so you won't get banners or badges for that channel.
- Public channels stay listed for the workspace — you can browse and tap Join channel later.
- Private channels require an invite to rejoin.
Leaving is only for you. Other members stay, and the channel's messages remain for people who are still in it.
Tips
- If you only want fewer alerts, mute the channel instead of leaving.
- Members can add or remove people from the Channel tab. Swipe a person on iPhone to remove them.
- See How do I create a channel? if you need a new home for the conversation.
