How do mute, @here, and @channel work?

Control noise with mute and use mentions when you need attention.

Mentions get attention; muting controls how much attention a channel gets from you. Use both deliberately and your notifications stay useful instead of noisy.

Mentions

• @name notifies one specific person.
• @here notifies everyone currently active in the channel — use it for things that matter now but can wait for people who are offline.
• @channel notifies every member of the channel regardless of activity — reserve it for genuinely channel-wide news.

Muting a channel

1. Open the channel and find its notification settings (usually the bell icon or a menu option).
2. Choose to mute it, or set alerts to mentions-only.
3. Muted channels stay in your sidebar but stop pushing notifications for regular messages — @mentions can still get through depending on your settings.

Tips

• If a channel is mostly noise for you but occasionally has something important, mentions-only is the best middle ground.
