How do I send my first message?

Pick a channel or a person, type your message, and send it — your workspace's default channels are ready as soon as you join.

Steps

1. From Home, open the Team or Messages tab.
2. Pick where to post:
3. Tap the message box at the bottom, type your message, and attach a file or image if you need to.
4. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac the composer toolbar includes Bold, Italic, lists, Block quote, and code. On the web, chat formatting is bold, italic, strike, code, and lists — not block quote or tables.
5. Send it. If you're replying to a specific message instead of starting a new topic, use Reply instead so the main channel stays readable.

If you don't see any channels yet

New workspaces start with a few default channels. If your team hasn't created any yet, use New Channel to create one for your team, project, or topic — see How do I create a channel?.

Tips

• You can message an installed app or an AI agent the same way you message a person — see How do I message an app or agent in a channel?.
• Sent a typo? You can edit or delete afterward, or forward the message to someone else.
• On iPhone, iPad, and Mac you can say “Send a message in FabricLoop” to Siri — see Siri and Shortcuts.
