Why do FabricLoop calls ring like a phone call on iPhone?

On iPhone, incoming FabricLoop calls use CallKit so they ring like a normal phone call — even if the app is in the background.

On iPhone, FabricLoop uses Apple's CallKit so an incoming workspace call can ring, show on the lock screen, and appear in Recents like a regular phone call.

iOS only: This system ringing is for iPhone. On web and other platforms, incoming calls show an in-app notification instead of the Phone app UI.

How it works

1. A teammate starts a call in a conversation you're in.
2. Your iPhone receives a VoIP push and reports it to CallKit.
3. The system call screen appears with the caller's name, ringing with FabricLoop's ringtone.
4. Tap Answer to join, or Decline if you don't want to take it. Answering opens FabricLoop and connects you to the call.

If you answer or decline on another device, the ring on this iPhone stops automatically so you aren't left with a stale incoming call.

Permissions that make ringing work

1. When iOS asks, allow FabricLoop to use the microphone (and camera for video).
2. Keep notifications enabled for FabricLoop in Settings → FabricLoop on your iPhone.
3. If calls never ring, confirm FabricLoop isn't silenced by Focus / Do Not Disturb, then try a test call from another device.

Outgoing FabricLoop calls can also show in the system call UI whilst you're connected.

Tips

• Caller names come from the workspace — Recents shows the person's name, not an internal ID.
• Answering from the lock screen skips the pre-call consent screen and connects you straight into the room.
• You can mute from either the system call controls or the in-app call controls — they stay in sync.
