Talk to an agent the same way you talk to a teammate — type @, pick the agent, and write in plain language. It replies in the thread, with no slash commands to learn.
Mention the agent
- Open the channel or DM where the agent is available — an agent your workspace has added to that channel, or a connected MCP app like GitHub or Linear.
- In the message box, type @ to open the mention list.
- Select the agent, finish your request, and send.
Only the agent you mention starts. FabricLoop includes the conversation in its prompt so it can see the thread.
Read the reply in the thread
- Open the thread on your message — the agent posts its reply there, not as a new top-level message.
- Continue in that thread if you want a follow-up. Everyone in the channel can see and join the conversation.
If an agent is waiting on you, it appears under Waiting on you on the channel's Apps & agents tab. Open it to answer the question.
Tips
- There are no
/botcommands. If an agent does not appear in @, add it first — see How do I add an AI agent to a channel?. - You can also message an installed app the same way.
- Loop, your built-in Ask AI assistant, isn't one of these — it only replies to you privately. See What is Loop Agent?. Custom agents and any connected MCP app can be a channel teammate; each lives on a home channel with its own triggers.
