Who can edit a note?
Note access follows your group membership and workspace roles.
Updated 2026-08-13
Anyone who belongs to the group a note is in can typically view and co-edit it — access to a note follows your membership in its group, not a separate per-note permission you set up each time.
How it works
- A note belongs to a group when it's created.
- Everyone in that group can open and edit the note.
- Add or remove someone from the group to change who can reach its notes — see groups and membership.
Tips
- If a note needs a smaller audience than its group, consider whether it belongs in a more focused group instead of trying to lock down one document.
- Workspace admins and owners generally retain visibility across groups for oversight, depending on your workspace's role settings — see workspace roles.
