What is the difference between list, Kanban, and calendar?

Switch views without changing the underlying tasks — same work, different layout. The dashboard adds workload, throughput, and at-risk work.

List, Kanban, and calendar are three ways to look at the same tasks — switching views never changes or duplicates the underlying work. A fourth view, the dashboard, summarizes those tasks.

The views

  • List — straightforward, scannable rows of tasks. Best for triaging a backlog or scanning everything at once.
  • Kanban — tasks grouped into columns (like To Do, In Progress, Done, or whatever your task sections are). Drag a task between columns to update its status.
  • Calendar — tasks laid out by due date, so you can see what's landing when at a glance.
  • Dashboard — counts, workload per person, throughput, and at-risk work across your tasks. See What does the task dashboard show?

Steps

  1. Open Tasks.
  2. Use the view switcher (usually tabs or a toggle near the top) to pick list, Kanban, calendar, or dashboard.
  3. Any change you make in one view — editing a title, dragging a card, setting a due date — is reflected instantly in the others.

Tips

  • Kanban's drag-and-drop is the fastest way to update status for a lot of tasks at once.
  • Calendar view is the best place to spot overloaded days before they happen.
