How are tasks tied to conversations?

Tasks created from chat keep the conversation context so nothing is orphaned.

When you create a task from a message, FabricLoop links the task back to that message so anyone working on the task can jump straight to the discussion that started it.

How the link works

1. Create a task from a message using Create task in the message menu.
2. The task keeps a link back to the original message and its channel or DM.
3. Open the task at any time and follow the link to see the original context — useful for a task assigned weeks after the conversation happened.

Why this matters

Tasks created this way aren't copies of the conversation — they're a pointer to it. That means the task stays lightweight (title, owner, due date) whilst the "why" and full detail stay in chat, exactly where the discussion actually happened.

Tips

• You can still add comments and files directly on the task without touching the original conversation — the two build independent histories after the task is created.
• Not every task needs to come from a message — plenty of tasks are created directly on the Tasks surface with no conversation behind them at all.
