How do I set a task's priority?

Choose Low, Medium, High, or Critical so the important work stays visible in the list and on the dashboard.

Updated 2026-10-08

Open the task and set Priority to Low, Medium, High, or Critical. New tasks start at Medium.

Set it on the task

  1. Open the task.
  2. Set Priority. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, that is the priority pill under the title. On the web, it is the Priority field on the task.
  3. Pick Low, Medium, High, or Critical. The choice saves with the task and shows on list rows and Kanban cards.

Filter and the dashboard

  1. Open Tasks.
  2. Open the filters and choose Priority.
  3. On the task dashboard, at-risk includes overdue work and open tasks marked High or Critical.

Tips

  • Priority is separate from task sections. A section is where the work sits in the workflow. Priority is how urgent it is.
  • You can also break a task into subtasks, mark blockers, and add labels.
