How does AI summarise search results?

After a search returns hits, FabricLoop can write a short AI summary of what it found so you get the answer without opening every result.

When a search finds results, FabricLoop can add an AI Summary above the list. It is grounded in those hits — not a separate internet search — so you can skim the answer, then open a cited result if you need the source.

When it runs

1. Search with a non-empty query.
2. Wait for results to appear. The summary generally starts once there's at least one hit.
3. A summary card shows whilst it's generating (a short spinner next to AI Summary), then fills in with prose.
4. If you change the query, the type filter, or clear results, the summary is replaced or cleared to match.

On the web, the summary streams in after the result list is already visible. In the app, it runs for every result type (All, messages, tasks, notes, news, people, files, and the rest). Empty searches don't summarise.

Use the summary

1. Read the summary for the gist.
2. When citation chips appear, tap one to open that result.
3. Keep scrolling the regular results if you want the full list — the summary doesn't hide them.

If the summary request fails, you still have the lexical results. Try the query again if you need the write-up.

Tips

• Narrow with a type filter first if you only care about tasks or messages; the summary follows the hits you can see.
• The summary uses a slice of the top results (not every match in a huge workspace), so unusual hits further down may not be mentioned.
• A new query cancels the previous summary so you don't mix answers from two searches.
