How do I share files in a conversation?

Attach images, documents, and other files to messages so context stays with the chat.

Attach a file directly to a message in any channel or DM — it uploads with the message and stays attached to that point in the conversation.

Steps

1. Click the attachment icon in the message box, or drag a file into the conversation window.
2. Pick the file (or files) you want to share from your device.
3. Add a caption or message alongside it if useful, then send.
4. The file appears inline in the conversation for everyone with access to that channel or DM.

Tips

• Images and common document types preview inline; other file types show as a downloadable attachment.
• Shared files are included in search, and supported types can be searched inside — see searching inside attachments.
• For something that needs ongoing discussion and edits rather than a one-off share, consider attaching it to a note or a task instead.
