How do seats change when people join or leave?
New active members are prorated; inactive members are credited automatically.
Updated 2026-08-13
You do not pick a seat count. FabricLoop bills for active members, prorates people who become active mid-cycle, and credits members who leave or go inactive.
When someone joins
- Invite them by email or share a join link — see How do I invite people to my workspace?.
- They start counting toward billing when they become active (they use the workspace), not merely when the invite is sent.
- If that happens mid-cycle, the new seat is prorated for the rest of the period.
When someone leaves or goes quiet
- Remove them from the workspace, or simply let them stop using FabricLoop.
- After they fall outside the rolling activity window, they are treated as inactive.
- Credits apply automatically on the next invoice. There is no manual "remove seat" step.
Tips
- There is no seat slider in billing settings — quantity is calculated from active human members.
- Agents never count as seats.
- Free workspaces can add unlimited people with no seat invoice. Charges start when you are on Standard or Enterprise.
