After you search, type chips let you keep only the kind of result you want. Filters adds constraints such as from a person, in a channel, date range, and file type.
Filter by type
- Run a search.
- Tap a chip above the results: All, Task, Message, Note, News, Person, and — when shown — File, Comment, Call, or Channel.
- Counts on the chips show how many matches of that type came back.
- Return to All to see every type again.
Filters
- If you see a Filters control next to the search field (it shows a badge when filters are on), open it.
- Set any of:
- Tap Apply (or Search) to use them, or Reset / Clear all to start over.
Quick capsules under the search field (such as From me, Mentions me, Has file, Has link, or Last 7 days) apply a common filter in one tap.
Tips
- Combine a type chip with Filters when you know both *what* and *who* — for example messages from a person in the last week.
- You can save a search (Pin search / Saved) if you reuse the same query and filters.
- Filtering never searches outside your workspace or past what your role can already see.
- Some workspaces still show type chips only, without a Filters sheet. Use the chips in that case.
