How do I start a call?

Start audio or video from a channel or DM with one click.

Open the channel or DM you want to call from and click the call button — audio or video starts immediately for everyone in that conversation.

Steps

1. Open the channel or direct message.
2. Click the call icon (usually in the header of the conversation).
3. Choose audio or video, if prompted.
4. The call starts, and everyone active in that conversation gets an incoming notification to join.

Tips

• There's no separate meeting link to create and paste — the call is tied directly to the conversation it started in.
• Calling from a channel makes the call available to everyone in the channel, not just whoever clicked the button — great for ad hoc standups.
• See call permissions if your microphone or camera doesn't seem to work.
