What you can ask Google Docs

Ask in plain language, with no slash commands. Google Docs replies in the thread so the whole team sees the result.

These are examples of the kind of request to try. What Google Docs can do depends on your Google Docs account and permissions.

How to chat with Google Docs in a channel

  1. Enable it for the workspace. An admin or owner opens the Apps tab, switches to MCP, finds Google Docs and enables it.
  2. Connect your account. Each person signs in to Google Docs once. FabricLoop acts as you, using your permissions.
  3. Message it directly. Select Google Docs in the left nav or in Messages to chat with it in its own channel.
  4. Or mention it in any channel. Type @, pick Google Docs and describe what you want. It replies in the thread on your message, so everyone in the channel can see it, and you can keep going there for follow-ups.

Direct channel app. Google Docs also has a direct connection. Open a channel, choose Apps and Agents from the header menu, then Add app (direct connection), and Google Docs events land in that channel as they happen.

Read more in the help center: talk to an installed app, the MCP catalog and installing a channel app.

Google Docs integration FAQ

What is the Google Docs MCP server URL?

The Google Docs MCP server is at https://docsmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1. FabricLoop connects to it for you when an admin enables Google Docs, so you do not paste the URL anywhere.

How do I use Google Docs in FabricLoop?

An admin enables Google Docs from the Apps tab under MCP and each person connects their own Google Docs account. Then select Google Docs in the left nav or in Messages to chat with it in its own channel, or type @ in any channel, pick Google Docs and ask in plain language. In a channel it replies in the thread.

Who can see what Google Docs returns?

Google Docs replies in the channel thread, so everyone in that channel sees the answer. It uses the connecting person's Google Docs permissions, and the connection does not expand anyone's membership in FabricLoop.
